Faithorn Farrell Timms was appointed by Peaker Pattinson to provide professional and technical services, for the design and contract administration for two light industrial units in Hawthorn Road Industrial Estate, Eastbourne.

The services required included Building Surveying, Project Management, Quantity Surveying and CDM Co-ordinator, all of which were provided from the Eastbourne office. In addition, we were appointed as Party Wall surveyors to agree awards with adjoining owners prior to works commencing.

The scheme entails the complete design and construction of two industrial units on a former demolition reclamation yard, for which statutory approvals and new service connections were sought and obtained.

A detailed site investigation, including topographical and geotechnical reports, was commissioned to enable the concrete raft foundation to be designed. This took into consideration the high water table and poor soil bearing capacity, to ensure the floor could support the required industrial floor loadings.

The steel frame was procured separately to the ground works. This ensured costs were minimised and enabled the project to be financially viable for our client. Our project management role was crucial in keeping the design team and contractor to the agreed programme and deadlines.

The contract value for these works is in excess of £300,000.
