St Peter Chanel RC School
Faithorn Farrell Timms was commissioned to undertake a school extension to provide new administration areas, a staffroom, library, an ITC suite and five classrooms to bring the school up to Department for Education and Skills standard.
St. Peter Chanel School fell short of the Department for Education's Standards for schools, as outlined by the Exemplar Design Brief, with more than half of lessons taking place in mobile classrooms.
In addition to the extension, we are also carrying out redevelopment and refurbishment work on the existing school buildings. We are currently engaged as architects and project managers preparing designs, and appointing and managing a number of sub-consultants.
With the school being located in a Metropolitan green belt, certain planning considerations have had to be accounted for when preparing the initial architectural drawings.
The construction work will be undertaken using a JCT 98 Standard Form of Contract.
The value of the project is estimated at £1,535,000, which will be funded by the DFE, with work on-site due for completion in 2008.
