The Farningham Hotel
The Farningham Hotel in Kent, built during the first half of the last century, was latterly used as a Public House and is now being converted into 14 one and two bedroom flats for shared ownership.
Technically the project was challenging insofar as floor levels needed to be lowered in the basement to provide the required ceiling heights at ground and first floor levels.
The entire roof construction needed reconfiguration to accommodate a mansard floor level and extensive remodelling of the external areas was required to provide the necessary car parking.
We were instructed by Shepherds Bush Housing Association at the initial scheme appraisal stage and our involvement will continue until completion, as their employers agent, to monitor design, quality, construction costs and the contractor's adherence to programme.
J Ollif & Son were appointed under a JCT 98 Form of Contract with contractors design.
The contract was valued at £717,000 and is due for completion in August 2005.
