Faithorn Farrell Timms

The Home Group

In November 2007, Faithorn Farrell Timms was instructed to undertake a batch of 500 surveys, to validate cloned information held within their asset management database.

This involved capturing condition data and energy efficiency information, and assessing risks under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). The geographical areas for the surveys ranged from locations as far apart as Eastbourne and Northampton.

The surveys were carried out by the use of PDAs loaded with ECMK’s Pocket Surveyor. The data was then uploaded into a stand alone version of the asset management database, Integrator, and validated and analysed by our Survey Manager.

To increase efficiency, we made use of remote data uploading via Secure Digital (SD) cards, which is a facility in the data capture software, and Integrator. This disposed of the need for surveyors to travel back to the office for uploads from the PDAs. This was particularly important given the dispersed nature of the properties to be inspected.

The surveys were carried out by a team of three in-house surveyors over a nine-week period and, as a result of our efficient methods of working and the co-operation of the residents, we managed to exceed the requirements of the brief and deliver over 600 property surveys for our client.
