Faithorn Farrell Timms undertook condition surveys on a sample of the housing stock of Chichester Diocesan Housing Association (CDHA), in the Autumn of 2003. These surveys identified the planned maintenance liability for the properties and the works required for compliance with the Decent Home Standard. We subsequently provided consultancy advice to develop strategic work programmes, by grouping component replacements.

As the outline programmes of work were based on extrapolated results from the sample condition survey, we were appointed to carry out verification inspections of all properties in the programme and to prepare specifications of work.

The works were divided into three packages on a regional basis. We obtained all necessary local authority consents, assisted with leaseholder consultations and tendered the works. All contracts were administered through to successful completion, bringing the overall programme in on time and within budget.

Following the successes of the 2005/06 contracts, Faithorn Farrell Timms was further instructed to perform the same tasks on the 2006/07 and 2007/08 programmes. The total value of the works in 2005/06 was £1.34m, with a contract commencement date of May 2005 and contract completion in March 2006. The total value of the 2006/07 programme was £1.8m and completion was achieved at the end of March 2007. Works on the 2007/08 programme are currently being finalised and it is expected to have a contract sum in excess of £1.3m.
