Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity
At Great Ormond Street Hospital amazing things happen every day. We are a world-renowned centre of excellence in the provision of children's healthcare, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care within any children's hospital in the UK.
We treat children with the rarest, most complex and life threatening conditions - those not only from the UK but also from across the globe. In partnership with the UCL Institute of Child Health we seek to find new and innovative treatments for generations of children to come.
Each year, we receive over 175,000 patient visits. Almost half of these patients are under three years of age and the majority have intensive care and high dependency needs. For many children and their families walking through the doors of Great Ormond Street Hospital, we truly are the last hope.
While the day to day running of the hospital is paid for by the NHS, we still need to raise significant funds in order to maintain our position as a world leader in paediatric medicine. To achieve this we need to raise £50 million a year to rebuild and refurbish the hospital; purchase the most up-to-date equipment; provide services for patient and family welfare; and to fund pioneering research.
- Our ambitious programme to rebuild two thirds of the hospital will give everyone the space they need, making cramped, outdated wards a thing of the past. Our patients, their families and staff deserve nothing less.
- Our patients and staff need state-of-the-art equipment, but specialist tools are expensive, especially those suitable for children and young babies. Please help us save more lives.
- Our researchers are leading the way, discovering and developing treatments for complex medical conditions. Funding their pioneering journeys today will make a difference for generations to come.
- The powerful presence of siblings and parents helps children recover. With your support we can provide more beds for parents so they can be on hand to give hugs at any time of day or night.
