Three-Way Collaboration Sees Men’s Hostel Rejuvenated

29 March 2022

On the back of our association with Look Ahead Care and Support late last year when we donated a batch of wash bags to Edward Alsop Court, we are delighted to have rekindled our relationship with the care support and housing organisation in a recent initiative as part of our Twenty for Twenty anniversary programme.

Through our Twenty for Twenty Charity and Social Value Theme, headed by ambassadors Lynn Bekir and Adam Keys, we continue to reach out into local communities and have recently had the pleasure of forming a collaboration with Look Ahead Care and Support and contractor Axis Europe.

Look Ahead supports thousands of people across London and the South East with a diverse range of needs. Their mission is to help these people make individual choices, achieve goals and take control of their own lives, courtesy of tailored support, care and accommodation services.

Edward Alsop Court is one of the organisation’s schemes. A 79-bed hostel located in Westminster, it provides a home, security and support to men aged 30-88 who have been referred by the local homeless outreach team.

Redecoration works at Edward Alsop Court

The hostel building was in need of some attention, requiring redecoration works to its office, canteen, entrance lobby and chapel. We discussed the project with one of our valued contractors, Axis Europe, who very kindly volunteered to deliver the works in its own time. Once we’d made the introduction, Axis and Look Ahead co-ordinated together to get the necessary works completed, with excellent results.

To further support the renovation, FFT donated a television for the chapel and, in true FFT family style, our staff came together to collect books, CDs, DVDs and sports clothing which has been gratefully received by Look Ahead for use in the communal spaces at the hostel.

Lynn Bekir said, “We had the pleasure of visiting Edward Alsop Court last year where we learnt more about the fantastic work manager Lynette Brophy and her team do to ensure the welfare and comfort of their residents.

“Being able to join forces again on the redecoration works, with the greatly appreciated input from Axis Europe, has been most gratifying. We look forward to continuing to support Lynette and all the staff at Look Ahead, and to further developing our three-way collaborative relationship.”

Joe Ibrahim Painting and Projects Managing Director Axis Europe added “We were delighted to help in this excellent community project , it was a privilege to be able to help “.

Look Ahead’s Edward Alsop Court was one of a number of recipients of last year’s FFT-funded wash bags campaign. This Easter, we’ll be donating sweet cones for use in the organisation’s family Easter Egg Hunt.
