Role Overview
The AutoCAD Technician will support our Building Surveying team in producing accurate technical drawings and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building construction, surveying principles, and proficiency in AutoCAD software.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out measured building surveys.
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings for building surveys, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD.
- Interpret survey data and translate it into accurate technical drawings.
- Assist surveyors in preparing design layouts, floor plans, elevations, and sections.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, building regulations, and company guidelines.
- Maintain and update drawing records and project documentation.
- Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to deliver high-quality outputs within deadlines.
- Support site visits when required to gather measurements and verify details.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an AutoCAD Technician in the Building Surveying or construction industry.
- Proficient in 2D AutoCAD as a minimum.
- Strong spatial awareness and the ability to interpret and present complex 3D environments in a 2D capacity.
- Good understanding of building construction, surveying terminology, and technical standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- An understanding of topographical surveying principles.
- Experience with planning applications or the planning process.
- Experience with BIM software and 3D modelling advantageous.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
- Relevant qualifications in CAD.
