Bishop Thomas Grant School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form situated in the Streatham, London. The school is named after the first Bishop of Southwark, Thomas Grant, who was named in the First Vatican Council.
The school required replacement windows for two of its blocks.
our role
FFT was appointed as Principal Designer and Contract Administrator, taking on the role of ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements, including health and safety and fire safety.
the challenges
The greatest challenge to the project involved working within term time. Important considerations regarding health and safety and potential disruption to the curriculum had to be made.
the outcome
Working in close liaison with the main contractor, SJM Construction Ltd, and the school’s premises team, we were able to co-ordinate the approach to ensure the works were not disruptive to the school environment, as well making sure they progressed to programme.
added value
With the school’s windows replaced and improved in terms of thermal performance, the students are able to enjoy a more comfortable learning environment, and the school will also benefit from energy savings.
